Volunteer Application

We're looking for volunteers to help us in setting up, dismantling, and running the Beer Bash public sessions. You can volunteer by completing the form further down this page.

Why Volunteer?

Well, first and foremost we hope you want to be part of the successful Bash Team, but as good as that is, we like to say thank you with a little more than just our eternal gratitude!

Everyone who works at the public sessions of the Beer Bash get a "Bash Team" T-shirt to help ensure all our staff are easily identifiable. We also provide a few beer tokens for each shift worked so you can have a few samples yourselves (we just ask that staff "on shift" are sensible with this!). Where necessary basic training will be provided for the duties you're assigned.

For each completed shift up to a maximum of four (including setup and takedown shifts) we'll offer you a 50% refund against a standard admission ticket (or the appropriate discount against a "Plus 10"). Note you need to buy your tickets in advance, and you need to inform us of the relevant ticket reference details in advance or when you sign in for your shift so we can apply the refund automatically after the event. And if you are working more than two shifts, but only want to attend one session yourself that is fine too - the refund can also be applied to a ticket bought for a friend / family member / loved one etc.

Your email address is required so we can keep in touch with you about your volunteer application, and will only contact you in connection with this and your role as a volunteer (which may include getting back in touch in future years). We'd also like to offer you the same benefits as any other attendee at Beer Bash however, so if we have any associated offers from third-parties we'd like to be able to pass on your details so you don't miss out. If you don't want us to do this please opt out below.

We appreciate that not everyone who volunteers can manage the full shift times listed, but that doesn't necessarily rule you out. Please indicate here if you need to start early / finish late for any of the shifts you are available for, and either provide details in the next section if possible, otherwise we'll contact you to discuss.
wf
Please let us know if there are any limits on the shifts you want to work (e.g. any two of the above, no more than one set-up and one serving shift, etc. Please also advise here any time restriction if you can't manage the full times for any shift you've volunteered for.

We cannot guarantee bar work for everyone who wants it, and opportunities may be slightly more limited than previous years. Volunteers will generally be rotated around duties at least once during a shift and so you may be asked to carry out other tasks for some of the time. However, we will try to accommodate your interests and experience as much as possible.

Please list any experience you have that you feel would be relevant to working at the Beer Bash. For example, working in a bar / retail / box office / hospitality environment.
wf
It is really useful for us to know what sort of work you are prepared and / or physically able to do. This will help to ensure we have a suitable balance of staff at each shift for the type of activities to be expected. The information provided won't prevent you volunteering, it will just allow us to allocate tasks in the best way.
wf
Please indicate above any limitations / disabilities that would help us to only allocate tasks to which you would be suited.

If there's anything else you feel we should know then please provide details here.

As a thankyou to all those who help us make Birmingham Beer Bash a success, we are planning a party following the clearing-down session on Sunday 24th July. This will be held at a city centre location from about 5pm. If you would be interested in attending this please let us know as it will help us plan for expected numbers. We also arrange a staff / brewers visit to venues after each evening session and you're always more than welcome to join us - these venues are usually open late for the occasion, and details will be made available nearer the time.
wf
All volunteers will receive a free "Bash Team" T-shirt to wear while working at the public sessions to help customers identify staff.

If you have already purchased tickets for the Beer Bash, please enter details (ideally your booking reference) above so we can apply your volunteer discount / refund. If you haven't bought any yet just drop us a line nearer the time with your ticket details, or inform the staffing officer when you start your shift. Note discounts and refunds will not be applied until after the event has finished. It appears there were a few issues with these payments last year - if you volunteered and didn't receive your refund please email us (volunteer@birminghambeerbash.co.uk) and we will look into it!
